On Canada’s East Coast, farming isn’t just a way to make a living, it’s a way to make a life. Smaller-scale family farms dot the pastoral landscapes, cattle graze on green pastures, and time seems to pass by more slowly, as if to match the rhythm of a bygone era.
Against this idyllic backdrop, our beef farmers carry on the traditions that have shaped our communities and sustained the land for generations.
They are staunch stewards of the pastures they manage. Through regenerative grazing, they help stabilize the soil and promote the growth of beneficial grasses. They also implement erosion control practices, including rotational grazing, brush control management and no-till farming, to protect our ecosystem.
Our beef producers also care deeply for their herds, providing them with acres of land to roam, plenty of sunshine, and the highest-grade feed to supplement their grass diet. Cattle are never confined to crowded feedlots – that’s simply not how we farm on the East Coast.
Our farmers also play a vital role in Atlantic Canada’s food ecosystem and economy, feeding local families and providing job opportunities in rural communities throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island.
